Each November, OASIS elects a new set of officers and members of the
Board of Directors. We need members to step up and stand to fill
these positions. For additional information about participating in
OASIS as an elected officer, send email to
candidates2006 at oasis-nss.org.
Officers and Directors each serve a one-year term. Below are the
positions and short job description. (Complete descriptions are found
in the Bylaws.) The number in parentheses is the number of available
positions. The elections will be competed at the meeting held
November 18, 2006.
Position: President (1)
The chapter president is responsible for the overall performance of
the chapter. He or she acts as chairman for meetings of the Board of
Directors. The president may make some decisions between Board
meetings.
Position: Vice President (1)
The chapter vice president coordinates public events, facilitating
speakers and venues. The person serving in this capacity is not
required to make all arrangements and may delegate particular events
to others. The vice president chairs meetings when the president is
not able to do so.
Position: Secretary (1)
The chapter secretary keeps the records of the chapter, calendar of
events, and minutes of the meetings of the Board of Directors. The
secretary may, and usually does, appoint an assistant secretary.
Position: Treasurer (1)
The chapter treasurer maintains the books for the chapter, is able to
issue checks on the chapter account, and files the annual report to
NSS.
Position: At-large Member of the Board of Directors (5)
At-large members of the Board of Directors oversee the operations of
the chapter and the chapter officers. The particular actions taken by
any one director is up to that director.
