Okay, all the excitement is over, and the blitz of comment has waned. It
was a whirlwind six days, almost an anticlimax, after the pre-flight hoopla
- of course, I'm talking about Dennis Tito's first tourist excursion! (Wonder
if he'll get any frequent flyer miles?)
What with all the excitement and not being able to be everywhere at once, you probably missed most of the learned (and otherwise) comment on the subject.
Here are a few links to get you caught up.
First is an interesting article from Andrew Chaikin, a long-time writer of books and articles on space, entitled ``Mr. Tito's Excellent Adventure'':

It seems everyone was getting in the fray, including someone who was accused of being a space tourist himself - go here for John Glenn's take on the event: http://www.cnn.com/2001/TECH/space/05/06/glenn.tito/
NASA was not coming off very well in the Tito coverage: http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/comment-hudgins050901.shtml
NASA's position on the space program. vis a vis Tito: http://www.nationalreview.com/derbyshire/derbyshire051001.shtml
And last, and not least, this from a Canadian computer geek site (in case
you missed it on the oasis-members list!) to put the whole thing in some
sort of perspective: http://www.geekculture.com/joyoftech/joyarchives/177.html
See you next month, when I'll try to approach the subject of space activism
on the 'Net.
