Odyssey, April 2002. Editor: Kris Cerone President's MessageThis will be a short President's Message and I'll hit just a few key points. We're inviting all OASIS members and their guests to the public lecture on the Mars Odyssey mission next Saturday (4/27) at the Boeing Huntington Beach facility. It should be a good event with an excellent speaker. (See the write-up in the May Odyssey.) Our April star party to Mt. Wilson didn't work out as planned due to inclement weather. We'll get together there again on May 18th and June 1st for more viewing opportunities. NASA HQ has finally restarted the Teacher in Space program. We'd like to give the new agency administrator a cheer for allowing Barbara Morgan, who has been waiting to fly since the 1986 Challenger disaster, the opportunity to fly in space. Who better than a skilled educator could convey the magic and wonder of space travel to the young people of the world? Perhaps the agency will also revive the Journalist in Space program in the near future. For those of you who haven't taken a good look lately at the NSS national publication, Ad Astra, I'd strongly recommend that you do so. The editorial changes over the past few months have been astounding: better articles, better graphics, and overall a more professional look and feel. The editor, Frank Sietzen, and his staff are to be commended. That's all for now. Until next time, keep 'em flying, Steve Bartlett Copyright © 1998-2003 Organization for the Advancement of Space Industrialization and Settlement. All Rights Reserved. |
